We also appreciate the many detailed comments that were submitted.

Following a thorough review of all feedback received, in consultation with the local county councillor, we have decided to proceed with introducing the raised, traffic light pedestrian crossing and speed cushions on Guildford Road.

While the public engagement has helped guide our initial decision-making, there is a statutory requirement to formally advertise the introduction of the proposed crossing and traffic calming features.  Any objections and comments received during the formal advertisement period will then be considered in accordance with the county council's constitution before a final decision is reached on whether to proceed with installing the measures.

We are moving forward with the detailed design and preparing to formally advertise the scheme.   When the advertisement takes place, large signs and notices will be placed on site, directing residents to our website for more details and to share their views.  Letters will also be sent to residents living near the proposed location of the crossing.

If the scheme goes ahead following the formal advertisement, we currently anticipate the measures being installed before the end of March 2027.
