Tadworth Street Progress

Thank you to those who responded to the public engagement regarding the proposed traffic calming measures on Tadworth Street and the proposed 20mph speed limit on roads around Tadworth Primary School

Tadworth Street, Tadworth

Thank you to those who responded to the public engagement regarding the proposed traffic calming measures on Tadworth Street and the proposed 20mph speed limit on roads around Tadworth Primary School as well as Epsom Lane South.

The results of the public engagement highlighted that the majority of respondents did not support the installation of traffic calming measures on Tadworth Street, with nearly 58% of respondents being either unhappy or very unhappy with the proposal to install them and only 36% of respondents being happy or very happy with them.

The County Councillor for the area, having very carefully considered all the responses, decided not to proceed with the proposed traffic calming measures on Tadworth Street. However, due concerns remaining regarding the safety of Tadworth Street, improvements to existing warning signs and road markings on the approach to Chinthurst School and Tadworth primary to adequately alert and slow down drivers will be installed.

The results of the public engagement also showed that residents are more supportive of the proposals to reduce the speed limit to 20mph on some residential roads and cul-de-sacs close to the school.  Nearly 50% were happy or very happy with the proposal and just under 40% very unhappy or unhappy. Therefore, the County Councillor for the area decided to proceed with this element of the scheme. As a result, the speed limit on the following roads will be reduced to 20mph before the end of the current financial year.

 -             Epsom Lane South (D1108) Including Oaklands Way for entire length.

-             Tadorne Road (D1107) for entire length.

-             Cross Road (D1107) from its junction with B290 Ashurst Road to its junction with Tadorne Road.

-             Harendon (D1186) including Mabbotts and Trittons for entire lengths.

-             Heathcote (D1186) which includes, Russells, Bayeux, Kipings, Radolphs, Harpurs, Delves, Wilsons, Wessels, Stewart, Croffets, Hudsons
