Walton High Street works

Walton High Street works

Previously, we proposed a road safety scheme on Walton High Street. The plan was to relocate the zebra crossing from near Caffe Nero to a location outside The Heart Shopping centre. This aimed to improve road safety, plus provide benefits to users of the high street following a number of road traffic collisions resulting in pedestrian injuries in recent years.

Following the public reaction to the cutting of the trees before their removal the scheme was stopped. We carried out engagement with local stake holders in November to December 2023. We have now developed new plans based on this feedback.

We are now going to remove the current trees and replace them. We are also looking to introduce a new 20 mph speed limit and improve the current crossing point on the High Street near Caffe Nero and McDonalds.
