Weybridge road improvements

Residents and businesses of Weybridge are invited to share their views on the current barrier arrangement and proposed changes on Baker Street. A survey is open until Monday 30 June 2025. To participate, click here to visit the survey page.

In 2020, under emergency COVID measures, a temporary barrier was installed on Baker Street in Weybridge. Following a public consultation in 2021, in which 66% of respondents supported keeping the barrier, the barrier was made permanent.

In the last four years, the barrier has helped to encourage walking and cycling, improved road safety in the area and stopped the use of the road as a rat-run, which had previously caused road safety concerns.

The barrier allows access for pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services. It can be lifted with a key when necessary. The road remains accessible for vehicles from both ends, although the car park is only accessible from the Monument Hill end.

We have recently received comments and suggestions about changing Baker Street, ranging from removing the barrier and re-opening the road to traffic, to closing it and pedestrianising a section to create more public realm space. It is clear there is a range of views and opinions, therefore we are asking for feedback on Baker Street and the barrier.

There is currently no allocated funding or plan for any changes to Baker Street. However, we will consider the feedback from this survey, alongside road safety advice, before making any decision on if or how to proceed. Funding would need to be found to implement any proposed changes.

Please complete the survey to let us know what you think and what you would like to see in Baker Street.
