During the February to March 2024 public engagement period, we received over 1400 responses from the online survey, direct emails and post. Analysis of the results showed that option E was the most popular proposal, with 57% of respondents choosing it as their preferred option. 30% of respondents chose option B and 11% chose option F (no change) as their preferred proposal.

When filtered by those respondents that identified as living in the village, slightly more preferred option B at 36%, with 53% choosing option E.

Option E retains traffic flow along the High Street, whilst bringing about a range of improvements to footways and the public realm, pedestrian safety, greenery, and proposes a 20mph speed limit in the village. The map below shows an overview of the changes:

The proposals were approved by Surrey County Council's Infrastructure Board and Capital Programme Panel in August and full funding for the project was confirmed in November. Detailed design is taking place, and we remain on track for construction in 2026.
