Beechwood Avenue and surrounding roads, Sunbury
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views on the proposed 20mph scheme for Beechwood Avenue and surrounding residential roads in Sunbury. We appreciate your involvement and the feedback provided.
Following a detailed review of all comments received during the public engagement period, officers have carefully considered both the support expressed and the concerns raised.
What We Heard
The engagement showed clear overall support for progressing the scheme as proposed:
- Most respondents — including residents living on the affected roads — were supportive of introducing the 20mph limit.
- Concerns mainly centred on the perceived effectiveness of the lower speed limit, whether current speeds were already low, and whether parking issues were a higher priority.
- Overall, no new issues were identified that had not already been taken into account during the scheme’s design.

Next Steps: TRO Statutory Consultation
A draft Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) has now been formally advertised. This is the start of the formal statutory consultation— the legal process required before any change to a speed limit can be introduced.
During this period, anyone may submit comments, objections, or statements of support. All feedback will be reviewed before a final decision is made.
The consultation is open until 10 April 2026.
