Pooley Green Road, Pond Road and surrounding roads

Roads in this area include: Pooley Green Road, Pooley Avenue, Pond Road, Priory Court, Harcourt Close, Wards Place, Holbrook Meadow, Osier Place, Argent Close, Charta Road, Conifer Lane and Mead Court.

Design proposals in this area include (please see the PDF file linked below for a plan of all the proposals):

• Improvements at junctions including providing dropped kerbs and tactile paving where currently absent. This makes it safer and easier for users to cross the road, especially those with reduced mobility, visual impairments, or with a pushchair.
• At the junction of Pooley Green Road and Mullens Road, the proposals include tightening the junction bell mouth by building out the footways on both sides of the junction. This will reduce the crossing distance for pedestrians and also slow down vehicles travelling through the junction. It is also proposed to install rain gardens in space gained, which can reduce the risk of surface water flooding, build climate resilience and provide attractive features. For more information about rain gardens and their benefits, please see the trees, planting and sustainable drainage tile. Double yellow lines are also proposed to restrict parking on the junction. 
• At the Pooley Green Road and Holbrook Meadow roundabout, proposals include the re-alignment of the existing crossing and the addition of a new crossing point. Both of these improvements will make it easier and safer for those walking and wheeling with crossings points on desire lines.
