Background

The proposed Improvement to bus travel between Redhill and Horley are key to faster, safer, greener and easier journeys. The introduction of new hydrogen buses will help Surrey County Council meet their net zero targets along with cleaner air for local people. The introduction of four new sections of Bus Lane will enable more reliable and faster journey times making it easier to travel by bus. This will also support people with their transition to more sustainable form of travel.

The proposed improvements to walking and cycling facilities between Redhill Station and East Surrey Hospital are key to promoting safer, more sustainable and healthier travel options. We know that everyone benefits from active travel, for each individual, it boosts physical and mental health, for our health service it reduces the heavy burden of treating preventable illnesses and of course businesses see the benefit of a healthier workforce. And don’t forget the reduction in congestion, cleaner air, fewer road traffic collisions and potentially reducing the impact of climate change.
