Estimated Completion Date: Spring 2027
Project Description: Involves demolishing and rebuilding the City’s Water Treatment Plant, including its Administration Building, which dates to 1969 and was expanded in 1986 but fails to comply with current hurricane codes. A 2012 study by C3TS Architects- Engineers recommends a major overhaul or rebuild to meet modern standards. The plan is to construct a two-story, 12,500 SF administration building with an attached 1,000 SF motor control center, both adhering to Category IV hurricane criteria. A comprehensive drainage plan for the site is also part of the project. Once the new facilities are operational, the outdated administration building will be torn down to make way for a staff parking lot, ensuring all structures meet the City’s technological specifications.
Status: Staff are reviewing the 90% design plan submittals. Once the design, technical specifications, and permitting are complete, the project will be advertised for bids through the City’s competitive bidding process. The bidding process is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2025.
