Ybor City 7th Avenue

Historic 7th Avenue Bricking Project - Phase 2

Historic East 7th Avenue, named one of America's 10 Great Streets, is the main commercial thoroughfare of Ybor City. The Ybor Community Advisory Committee recommended the bricking of this historic corridor from NIck Nuccio Parkway to 26th Street in accordance with both the Ybor City community redevelopment plans. In 2024. the Tampa CRA funded the first phase to rebrick two blocks of this historic corridor from North 15th and 17th Streets and the project was completed in August 2024. Phase 2 kicks off in 2026 with the bricking of the next two blocks of 7th Avenue from 17th to 19th Streets. A community meeting is scheduled for March 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Gaspar's Grotto, followed by project construction to begin in April 2026.

The bricking of 7th Avenue in Ybor City helps to calm traffic on a road that experiences a significant amount of pedestrian traffic throughout the year. This project promotes alternative modes of transportation, and connectivity, boost local businesses, and contributes to the economic growth of Ybor City, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs and job seekers. Using authentic historic bricks, this project enhances the authenticity of the National Historic Landmark District, allowing residents and visitors to better connect to the city's past.
