Neighborhood Greenway Pilot Project
The City of Tampa is working hard to expand our Neighborhood Greenway network and to make our streets safer for people walking and biking. We will do this by installing bolt down speed humps, shared lane markings, Neighborhood Greenway signs, lowering the speed limit to 20 mph, and addressing difficult crossings along the route. This project will promote walking and biking on these quiet neighborhood streets, address speeding complaints, and foster easier access to schools, parks, and other essential services. By making these streets safer, this effort also reflects the City's commitment to its Vision Zero goal of eliminating all fatal and serious injury crashes.
The project includes the enhancements listed above to 17th, 18th, and 19th Streets with the intent to create a safe and comfortable walking and biking route from 15th Avenue in V.M. Ybor to Park Cir. adjacent to the Hillsborough River. This project will also connect to the Green Spine Cycle Track extension (Phase 3B/3C) which is currently under construction. The Green Spine extension will follow 15th Street north to Cuscaden Park.
This project will contribute to a network of safe and comfortable streets for those walking and biking, fulfilling the Mayor's goal to "Reimagine Trails & Greenways" (https://www.tampa.gov/t3/transportation#trails) and is also consistent with her goals stated in the M.O.V.E.S. mobility plan (https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/816395aa2b4a478f809d8346111bd7a1).
