Rooted in Tampa
Rooted in Tampa is a City-led effort to help residents better understand trees and how they support healthy, comfortable neighborhoods. The initiative launches with a Tree Town Hall on January 17, 2026, as part of the Mayor’s Neighborhood University Saturday Session series, and will continue with future education, engagement, and resources.
The Tree Town Hall brings together City staff, arborists, environmental experts, and community partners to share clear, practical information about trees. The focus is on answering common questions, addressing concerns, and helping residents make informed choices about planting, care, and maintenance.
Tampa’s award-winning urban tree canopy provides important benefits, including shade, cooler temperatures, cleaner air, and improved health. At the same time, recent hurricanes have raised real concerns about storm impacts, maintenance costs, and safety. Rooted in Tampa creates space to talk openly about both the benefits and the challenges, with guidance residents can trust.
Through interactive presentations, myth-busting panels, and hands-on, family-friendly activities, residents will learn about City programs such as Treemendous Tampa, ReLeaf, and the Mayor’s Tree Giveaway. Attendees will also have opportunities to ask questions one-on-one, explore planting options, and learn how to get involved.
Rooted in Tampa supports the City’s goal of planting 30,000 trees by 2030 and encourages collaboration between neighborhoods, City departments, and partners. The initiative is centered on education, transparency, and choice, with the goal of growing a cooler, healthier, and more resilient Tampa for generations to come
