City of Tampa Marks One-Year Construction Milestone at Fair Oaks Recreation Complex
This $35 million project is on budget and on time!
Time is flying by!
We officially hit the one-year mark since construction began at the Fair Oaks Recreation Complex.
The best part is, this $35 million project is on budget and on time!
You can expect the 33,055-square-foot recreation center to open this Fall! The new facility will provide residents access to gym and dance programs, music production, STEM learning, a fitness center, meeting rooms, and special event space. A dedicated wing of the building is devoted to providing our seniors a space where they can access programming focused on wellness and social connection.
Phase 2 and total completion of the 10.25-acre site will happen in Spring 2026. Turf for the field is going down, and construction on the concession area is underway. Soon you will be able to walk the 1.5 mile walking trails, play with the kids at the splash pad, play pickleball, and much more.
Much of the on-site progress so far has been driven by local businesses from the community. Cut Ups Lawn Service is actively planting shade trees throughout the park, while Lawn Therapy Sites is installing the property’s irrigation systems. Skanska also brought on Tampa-based Strategist Project Support Services to lead subcontractor outreach and ensure compliance.
