Main Street Neighborhood Commercial District Plan Implementation
The West Tampa commercial district at Howard Avenue and Main Street is one of the oldest districts in the City of Tampa, characterized by ornate architecture, a variety of uses, and many assets on which to create a vibrant mixed-use center. Main Street connects the commercial center to the Hillsborough River and the emerging developments at West River.
The Main Street Neighborhood Commercial District Plan establishes a vision for the area and identifies specific actions that will position the Main Street / West Tampa corridor as a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood commercial center.
A series of projects (capital and service-oriented) will be undertaken to improve the conditions of the West Main Street corridor area.
Implementation Team:
A team of City staff has been assembled to pursue projects necessary to implement the Main Street Neighborhood Commercial District Plan in an efficient collaborative manner:
• Community Redevelopment (lead agency)
• Development and Growth Management
• Police
• Mobility
• Parks and Recreation
• Planning
However, success of the Plan is not possible without the involvement and support of the West Tampa community!
