The Heights Water Main Improvement Project
This multi-phase water infrastructure project will upgrade the City of Tampa’s distribution system by replacing aging water mains, some of which are more than 100 years old, with new, larger-diameter pipes designed to increase capacity and meet future demand.
Phase One:
Crews are replacing approximately 2,500 linear feet of aging water mains along North Florida Avenue between East Kay Street and East Palm Avenue. Work began late February 2026 and is expected to wrap up mid-December 2026.
Phase Two:
Work to start in June 2026!
Crews will replace approximately 5,600 linear feet of aging water mains on North Florida Avenue between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East Palm Avenue.

What streets will be impacted?
The majority of the work will take place along portions of North Florida Avenue.
Will my water service be interrupted?
Interruption of water service may occur but is expected to be minimal and of short duration as services are transferred to the newly installed pipes. Property owners will be notified in advance of all scheduled interruptions of service through door-hanger notifications or other means of communication.
Will I experience an interruption in mail delivery or garbage/recycling collection?
To avoid/minimize impacts to mail delivery and garbage/recycling pick-up, the contractor will work to coordinate with service providers concerning construction activities. Any service interruptions should be reported by emailing WaterPublicNotice@tampa.gov.
