World War II Japanese American Incarceration Monument
Remember the people. Teach the History. Protect civil liberties.
During World War II, more than 125,000 persons of Japanese ancestry were incarcerated without due process. This monument will permanently display approximately 126,000 names, the first U.S. project of its kind. The project will be located on the east side of Columbia Park at 4045 190th St.
The monument will feature black granite name walls, accessible paths and spaces for reflection, and stories of history, resilience, and remembrance.
