On November 28, 2023, Dave Comer, The City of Lorain’s Information and Technology Director shared with the Building and Lands Council Committee and members of the public the implementation of the “My Lorain” App and noted the improved deployment and delivery of City services and described it as a complimentary personal assistant and can be used to report nonemergency concerns quickly and easily to the City of Lorain.
The app is powered by SeeClickfix, which is run by CivicPlus. The app is designed to improve communication and the various city departments charged with making nonemergency repairs, Comer said. When a resident makes a complaint, that complaint will be assigned a number and then forwarded to either the Building Housing and planning department or Public Property Department to be resolved.
At a council meeting, it is not uncommon for a member to mention how difficult it was to receive a response when they attempted to report a pothole or zoning violation. The app monitors each of these issues. The purpose of the app is to assist anyone in their ward who is experiencing difficulties so that their issues are not overlooked or forgotten.
