Evaluating Fire and EMS Services Across Washoe County
The Regional Fire Services Study is being conducted in accordance with Senate Bill 319 to evaluate the structure, efficiency, and effectiveness of fire and emergency medical services across Washoe County, the City of Reno, and the City of Sparks.
The Study Board includes representatives from each participating jurisdiction and is responsible for overseeing the study process and receiving the final report. This study includes multiple phases, including data collection, community input, analysis, and reporting. The goal is to provide a comprehensive, data-driven understanding of current services and potential future considerations.
The Board does not have authority to implement changes, mandate consolidation, or levy taxes. Any future policy decisions would be made independently by each governing body after the study is completed.
Public input is a key component of the process and will be documented and considered throughout the study.
The study is now in its active data collection and evaluation phase.
