HSIP Traffic Safety & Signal Improvement Project
West Sacramento is committed to ensuring safer streets for all who live, work, and travel within our community. Guided by the findings of the 2018 Systemic Safety Analysis Report (SSAR), the City is addressing key roadway safety challenges on priority corridors identified as having higher rates of collisions, including West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson Boulevard, Harbor Boulevard, and Sacramento Avenue. This data-driven approach pairs local insights with proven, low-cost safety countermeasures approved by the California Local Roadway Safety Manual to create targeted improvements that benefit pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and transit users alike.
This public safety initiative reflects the City’s dedication to thoughtful planning and collaboration. Working closely with traffic safety experts and City Engineers, the project scope was carefully designed by evaluating factors such as feasibility, safety benefits, funding competitiveness, and coordination with current and future City infrastructure initiatives. As the project evolves, we value the voices of our residents and their lived experiences on these critical corridors, ensuring that community input informs our path toward safer streets for all.
