Planning Enforcement Successes
Some examples of how the Planning Enforcement Team have been effective in dealing with breaches of planning control and improving the City of Westminster
A large unauthorised double awning was installed at the property, which harmed the appearance of the conservation area. The Planning Enforcement Team issued an enforcement notice and the unauthorised awning was removed.
The property was in a poor condition, negatively affecting the character and appearance of the street and the conservation area. The Planning Enforcement Team served a notice requiring the improvement of the condition of the property.
Unauthorised illuminated advertisements and an unauthorised roller shutter were installed at this Grade II listed building. The Planning Enforcement Team served a listed building enforcement notice requiring the removal of the inappropriate alterations and an application for more appropriate advertisements was submitted to the council and approved.
A large advertisement was installed on the front elevation without consent and this was therefore unauthorised. Following action taken by the Planning Enforcement Team, the unauthorised advertisement was removed.
A marquee was erected on the land for shisha smoking purposes without planning permission and this was therefore unauthorised. Following action taken by the Planning Enforcement Team, the unauthorised marquee was removed and the unauthorised shisha smoking use ceased.
