King Solomon School Younger Years MUGA Consultation

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation on the proposal for a multi-use games area (MUGA) at King Solomon Academy Younger Years School. We appreciate the time residents, stakeholders and members of the school community took to complete the survey and speak with us at engagement events.

We have reviewed the feedback received. The consultation showed strong support for creating a new multi-use games area for children within the school. We heard mixed views regarding opening the MUGA for community use, with some respondents expressing support and others raising concerns about lighting, noise, anti-social behaviour, and the potential impact on nearby residents.

In response, the Council will proceed with delivering the facility for use by school pupils. Plans for wider community use are not being taken forward. We recognise the range of views expressed and thank everyone for sharing their feedback.

What happens next?

The Council will now finalise the design for the school-use facility and complete the necessary technical and procurement preparations during 2026. The project will then go out to tender, with a contract expected to be awarded in 2027. Subject to the procurement process, construction of the new MUGA is planned to take place during 2027, providing a dedicated space for pupils at King Solomon Academy Younger Years to be active, play and participate in sports.
