Consultation on Play Streets for 2026
A Play Street provides priority for children and families to enable them to play in the designated streets. A Play Street is open to all, regardless of where they live. This is underpinned by Department for Transport legislation (Section 29, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984).
Westminster City Council will go through the process of consulting and assessing the eligibility of different Play Street locations against a set of criteria that identifies the local communities desire for Play Streets, whether residents are able to activate their street, and how a history of Street Play sessions has informed the success of a Play Street going forward.
A consultation for Barnsdale Road becoming a Play Street took place on 14th July until the 7th September 2025.
