CCTV Policy Consultation
This project has now been completed.
Please check sections below to find out about the outcomes of the consultation.
About the project
In March 2026, Westminster City Council approved its CCTV policy, covering the Public Realm, Housing, and Traffic Enforcement services. The policy aims to promote public safety, deter crime, protect assets, and manage anti-social behaviour while upholding privacy rights.
The policy outlines clear guidelines for the Council’s use of CCTV, ensuring compliance with legislative provisions and public accessibility. It covers installation, management, removal, and access to CCTV systems.
It also defines the responsibilities involved in the Council’s CCTV systems, states the purposes for which the CCTV system was installed, and sets out the access process for partners and the public to obtain images.
You can read the main policy together with the relevant appendix on this page. Click here to view the Public Realm, Housing, or Traffic Enforcement versions of the policy.
