Queens Park Avenues Healthy Homes

Warmer, healthier and more comfortable homes for Queens Park Avenues.

About the project

Email

The Avenues are a special place, but some features of the historic homes don’t always meet modern expectations. Many residents experience damp and mould and find it difficult or expensive to keep their homes warm in winter

On top of this, understanding what home improvements are possible, deciding which ones to prioritise, and knowing who to trust - whether landlords or tradespeople - can be overwhelming.

The Council and Avenues community are working together to make it easier for everyone - renters and homeowners alike - get the improvements you need and want.

Find out what’s happening, explore guidance and support, and learn how you can get involved.

Timeline

Creating a Healthy Homes Forum

May 2025 - June 2025
Twenty local residents were recruited to work with the Council to explore how homes in Queens Park Avenues could be improved.

Co-design

July 2025 - February 2026
The Healthy Homes Forum worked closely with architects and Council staff to understand the Avenues’ unique housing challenges and opportunities. Together, we shaped and developed a Healthy Homes Guide tailored specifically to the Avenues and made recommendations for future support.

Healthy Homes Guide

March 2026 -
We've published a Healthy Homes Guide to help you understand your home and explore options for making improvements. The guide is available on this website and at the Queens Park Library. We’re also developing the Forum’s recommendations, including a Healthy Homes Hub, collective purchasing options, and ways to empower renters.

Practical support

from Summer 2026
While a guide is helpful, we know much more is needed to make home improvements achievable for most residents. Practical support will be introduced from summer, and we’ll continue to build this together with the community over time. Sign up for updates to hear about opportunities to get involved.
