Jubilee Leisure Centre Community Gym Engagement
Westminster City Council is inviting residents and the wider community to share their views on a proposed new gym at Jubilee Community Leisure Centre. The facility would be created by converting the existing Community Room, which is currently underutilised, into a modern community gym.
The 15-station gym would offer cardiovascular equipment, resistance machines and free weights in an accessible, welcoming environment for all abilities. It would retain the Physical Activity Referral Scheme (PARS), expand health and wellbeing opportunities and act as a local wellbeing hub, reducing barriers to participation and supporting healthier, more active lifestyles, particularly among underrepresented groups.
This project aligns with the ActiveWestminster Strategy, which focuses on inclusion, reducing barriers to participation and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthy, active life.
About the project
The proposed development would be located in the existing Jubilee Community Leisure Centre, with the significantly underutilised Community Room being converted to the gym.
The proposed gym would feature a modern 15-station layout, equipped with a mix of cardiovascular equipment, resistance machines and free weights.
Designed to provide an accessible and welcoming environment for both new and experienced users, the facility would support improved health, increased physical activity participation and long-term wellbeing.
It would also support an expanded health and wellbeing programme through the retention of the Physical Activity Referral Scheme (PARS).
The facility would also act as a local wellbeing hub, reducing barriers to participation, supporting preventative health outcomes and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups to engage in physical activity in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
