Eaton Square Local Listed Building Consent Order

Westminster City Council is working with Grosvenor to make it easier for residents to improve their homes while reinstating Eaton Square’s original heritage features.

About the project

Email

A Local Listed Building Consent Order (LLBCO) would remove the need for individual applications, making upgrades quicker, simpler and less costly for residents.

The LLBCO would enable practical, heritage sensitive improvements to make homes warmer, quieter, more comfortable and more energy efficient. This includes upgraded windows, installing blinds and awnings, and solar panels.

More information about energy efficiency upgrades can be found on Westminster's website:

How To Retrofit Guides

If adopted, the LLBCO will grant listed building consent for all properties around Eaton Square to make certain upgrades. Detailed drawings and specifications will be included for each upgrade measure, which will likely to include:

- window upgrades to improve comfort and energy efficiency

- installation of awnings outside windows to reduce overheating in hot weather

- installation of solar panels on concealed roofs to generate electricity.

contact us: Westminster Retrofit Taskforce

The Westminster Retrofit Taskforce was established in 2022 with complementary and innovative workstreams aimed at addressing the identified barriers to retrofit and upscaling delivery at a systemic level. Our Taskforce is situated in the Design, Conservation & Sustainability Team, within the WCC Town Planning Department. There is particular focus on the borough’s heritage buildings and how planning legislation and processes can act as an enabler to retrofit rather than a blocker.
