Queens Park Avenues Healthy Homes

What is Queens Park Avenues Healthy Homes?

Queens Park Avenues Healthy Homes is a project to help make homes healthier for people and the environment. We’re working with residents and homeowners in the Avenues to:

  • ✍🏽 Design improvements specific to Avenues homes and local needs
  • 📋 Create easy-to-follow advice to help you improve your home
  • 🛠️ Make it easier to get the improvements you want.

Why is this happening?

Some residents living in the Avenues have told us their homes can feel too cold in winter, too hot in summer, and can be affected by issues like damp, mould or high energy bills. These challenges can have an impact on health and wellbeing – and using a lot of energy can also make bills harder to manage..

We want to help make homes healthier, more comfortable, better for the environment, and help lower energy bills.

What is a healthy home?

A healthy home is one that helps you feel good - both physically and mentally. It’s safe, comfy, and doesn’t cause you stress or make you unwell.

Everyone’s idea of a healthy home might be a little different, but here are things people often look for:

  • Dry ☔ – No leaks, damp or mould.
  • Comfortable temperature 🌡️ – Easy (and affordable) to keep warm in winter and cool in summer.
  • Clean air 💨 – Fresh air, indoors and outside.
  • Quiet 🤫– Less noise means better sleep and less stress.
  • Secure 🥰 – You feel safe and comfortable in your home.
  • Green 🌍 – Energy-efficient and kind to the environment.

In short, a healthy home is one that helps you feel well, not one that makes life harder.

What homes is this focussed on?

We're interested in the most common type of home in Queens Park – Victorian terraced houses. These homes were built to the same general design, so they tend to have the same problems - and similar solutions. It doesn’t matter if you rent or own your home - this project is for you.

How can I get involved?

There will be multiple ways to get involved - register for updates to hear about opportunities to have your say or email healthyhomes@westminster.gov.uk.
