The Cleveland Street Cycleway is being delivered by Westminster City Council in partnership with Camden Council.

Project Phasing Plan

Completion of Planned Works

Please note that the works relating to the Cleveland Street Cycleway project are substantially complete. However, this excludes those works that are reliant on the completion of other planned developments in the area first.

Westminster City Council and Camden Council are continuing discussions regarding the delivery of these remaining works.

Outstanding works for the Cleveland Street Cycleway project relate to the following phases:

  • Phase 5 (Works on Cleveland Street Opposite Foley Street)
  • Phase 8 (Works on Cleveland Street Opposite Riding House Street)
  • Phase 13 (Cleveland Street Between Tottenham Street and Riding House Street)
  • Phase 14 (Cleveland Street Between Foley Street and Howland Street)

Details of these outstanding works are provided in the construction update below.

Camden Council will provide notice to relevant stakeholders when these outstanding works are able and due to be completed.

Westminster City Council and Camden Council are ensuring that appropriate cycle diversion or traffic management arrangements are in place for areas which remain incomplete in the meantime.

Looking Back

Phase 12 (Goodge Street to Riding House Street)

With the installation of cycle segregation kerbs complete, road lining has been completed as of Monday 3 August. Works by Yunex to install new cycle lane traffic lights at the junction of Cleveland Street and Goodge Street are to be completed in due course.

Phase 14 (Foley Street to Howland Street)

As mentioned in the previous construction update, the carriageway in this area has been partly resurfaced but cannot be completed until a later date subject to the completion of other planned works in the area. The remaining resurfacing and associated cycleway elements will be delivered following completion of the adjacent developer works.

Phase 15 (Howland Street to Maple Street)

Phase 15 works have been completed.

There is currently a temporary closure of the cycle lane between Maple Street and Howland Street while discussions are held regarding longer-term temporary arrangements. The cycle lane closure will be removed once a continuous contraflow cycle lane can be provided between Howland Street and Riding House Street, or earlier if a safe and appropriate diversion route can be implemented.

Looking Forward

Phase 5 (Works on Cleveland Street Opposite Foley Street)

Finishing works in this area which have not been fully completed, including road surfacing, will be co-ordinated and finished once other planned developer works in the area have been completed.

Phase 8 (Works on Cleveland Street Opposite Riding House Street)

Finishing works in this area which have not been fully completed, including works to footways and road surfacing, will be co-ordinated and finished once other planned developer works in the area have been completed. Traffic management arrangements will remain in place for user safety until these works are completed.

Phase 13 (Cleveland Street Between Tottenham Street and Riding House Street)

Some elements of the scheme remain outstanding in this location and will be completed following the completion of adjacent developer works in the area.

Phase 14 (Foley Street to Howland Street)

The remaining resurfacing works in this location cannot currently be completed due to other planned developer works in the area. The outstanding elements of the cycleway scheme will be completed following completion of these adjacent works.
