We are excited to announce that on Thursday, 17th April, we celebrated the official launch of our first full community hub in Westminster - The Exchange at Ernest Harriss House!

The Exchange is a vibrant new community hub in the heart of Paddington, operated by North Paddington Foodbank in partnership with Westminster City Council. The hub offers a welcoming, inclusive space for local residents to connect, learn, create, and thrive.

Situated on Elgin Avenue in North Westminster, The Exchange is located on the borders of Maida Vale and Harrow Road wards. The space, previously used as a day centre at the base of Ernest Harriss House, a retirement housing block, is currently empty. This site is part of the community hubs programme and aims to contribute to the council’s Fairer Westminster, #2035, EDI, and climate emergency ambitions by providing a range of services and activities that support the wellbeing, learning, participation, and empowerment of residents.

Over the past 18 months, the Council has worked with over 300 residents and partners to develop plans for the Community Hub space, its operations, and the local priorities it should address.

The Exchange aims to pilot a new approach in Westminster, integrating services and support with community space and social networks.
