Save the date: 15th July (6-8pm)

Our next free event is 6-8pm on 15th July called: “Your Block and Beyond”

At this third and final in person event, we’ll use a card game to think about making an actionable plan for retrofitting your building, from simple actions to reduce energy usage and heat loss, to longer term projects to decarbonise your heating and generate your own electricity from solar panels.

*Card game designed by Heat Hack (community organisation based in Scotland)

We’ll split into small groups with a facilitator at each table to help you think about and discuss your views on these kind of questions for your block:

• Are we using the current heating as efficiently as we can, and would changing the heating controls help?
• What kind of heating system should we put in next, and when should we do that?
• Do we need to make changes to the building so that it doesn’t lose as much heat? What would work best, what would it cost, and how can we pay for it?
• Are there things we should do to avoid wasting electricity?
• Does it make sense for us to generate energy on-site?

You may feel that you don’t have the power to change anything, but there are things you can do yourself whatever your circumstance. We will discuss how you can make your collective views heard to influence decision makers, whether they are landlords, neighbours or the council. After all, you know your building the best!

Where: Grosvenor Community Hall, Vincent Street, SW1P 4DG

When: 6-8pm Tuesday, 15th July

Who: All welcome, free to attend, just turn up!

Remember we'll be looking to recruit people at a later stage to join our co-design team who will work on a retrofit guide which can be shared with other communities to help them develop their engagement and retrofit strategies. No specific knowledge required, your lived experience is more than enough.
