Cycle Movement Strategy Phase 3: Portland Place

Cycle Movement Strategy Phase 3: Portland Place

Phase 3 of the Cycling Movement Strategy looks to formalise four of the temporary schemes implemented across the borough as part of the Council’s COVID response to create high quality cycle routes with wayfinding.  This consultation is seeking views on a permanent scheme for Portland Place.

A permanent scheme looks to improve on the temporary scheme, offering increased protection to cyclists and improvements to pedestrian facilities across the scheme.

Informal consultation on the scheme ran from 7th May to 23rd June 2024. Feedback and officers' responses to this consultation are outlined in the below "You Said, We Did" report. Following this, Traffic Management Order (TMO) consultation on the proposals ran from 17th September to 8th October 2025.

Following TMO consultation, a decision has been made to implement the scheme, with construction due to commence in 2026.
