Warwick Way Town Centre Highways Scheme
Phase 1 Warwick Way (between Upper Tachbrook Street and Wilton Road)
Works are complete for Phase 1 with the exception of the installation of setts and chamfered to the loading bay outside Tesco. A temporary asphalt construction has been installed in this location to mitigate delays to materials. Installation of the permanent materials will align with the resurfacing of Warwick Way in October. Warwick Way has been made one-way westbound between its junctions with Upper Tachbrook Street and Belgrave Road with temporary road markings installed to inform road users.
Phase 2 Denbigh Street
The works to widen the footway on Denbigh Street are progressing with kerbs installed and paving of the front section of the footway and loading bay completed. Works will now switch to the back section of footway and will be completed by 13/06/25. These works will happen concurrently with the Phase 4 works. Denbigh Street has reopened as of Tuesday 03/06/25.
Phase 3 Wilton Road
Works to the eastern corner outside Gees Chemist have been completed. The western corner outside Caffé Nero will now be constructed as part of Phase 4. This is because it was not possible to maintain the turning movement from Denbigh Street into Warwick Way within the traffic management set up for the Denbigh Street closure. The western half of Warwick Way has been closed to enable the Phase 4 works to progress. This will eliminate the turning movement issue.
The permanent traffic signals will be installed by TfL in the coming weeks with signals commissioned by 19/06/25.
Phase 4 Warwick Way (between Wilton Road and Guildhouse Street)
Warwick Way has now been closed for all traffic between its junctions with Denbigh Street and Guildhouse Street and works to Phase 4 have started outside Caffé Nero. Works will then move to proposed widened footways on both sides of Warwick Way.
