North Paddington Canalside
Successful completion of Westbourne Green Canalside Refurbishment
The Westbourne Green Canalside launch event, held on 19th November 2025, was an exciting milestone that celebrated the official completion of the public space enhancements, bringing together partners, stakeholders and residents.
The public space enhancements include:
- Enhanced eastern entrance including a new piazza with feature lighting
- Increased access points between the park and the canal and towpath
- Improved connections to the south including to Warwick Estate and schools
- New biodiverse planting, rain gardens and incidental play areas
- An improved setting for Grand Junction including a wrap-around bench and improved access
- More places to sit throughout the park
- Additional architectural lighting and new incidental play features throughout the park
- A new quiet route through the space
The launch included the recently completed mural by Wood Street Walls at the Westway site alongside the canal, followed by a guided tour led by LDA Design at Westbourne Green Canalside open space. The tour included a talk by artist Vicky Long about the project she undertook with students to refurbish the sundial feature with new nature-inspired bronze insets. A reception was then held at Grand Junction café where the Leader of the Council, Adam Hug, spoke about how delighted he was to see the fantastic refurbishment complete. The event also saw students from St Magdalene Primary School and Cllr Hug participating in the bulb planting activity led by Hammersmith Community Gardens Association.
We were thrilled to see such strong engagement and support from everyone who attended. The turnout and response reaffirmed the importance of this investment, with funding support from the GLA’s Good Growth Fund, and the positive impact it is poised to make for the local community in the years to come.
Thank you to all who joined us and contributed to making the event a success.
