Here's what we heard from over 40 residents at the Queens Park Summer Festival

Queens Park Avenues Healthy Homes

Queens Park Summer Festival

Thank you to everyone who spoke to us and shared their insights at the Queens Park Festival on Saturday 2nd August!

We spent the afternoon in Queens Park Gardens along with our to-scale Avenues model house and heard what residents liked and disliked about their homes, as well as the key barriers to change and support that would be helpful for residents looking to make changes.

What residents liked about their Avenues homes:

  • Character and charm

  • Calm and safe

  • Sash windows

  • Gardens

  • Cosyness

What residents disliked about their Avenues homes

  • Condensation, damp and mould

  • Poor ventilation and indoor air quality

  • Poor energy-efficiency

  • Cold in winter

  • Hot in summer

  • Sash windows

  • Lack of storage space

  • Mice & pest control

  • Noise

Barriers to change

  • Lack of clarity about heritage / Conservation area requirements

  • Listed status

  • Leaseholders need freeholder approval

  • Design of the building

  • Party walls

What would help residents make changes

  • Grants / funding

  • Demonstrator home / open homes

  • List of approved suppliers

  • Clarity of responsibility for shared issues like party walls

  • Help with double glazing

  • Storage space during renovation works

  • More free time

This information helps inform our understanding of resident needs and priorities and will feed into future Healthy Homes Forum workshops creating ways to make it easier to get the upgrades you need.
