Wilberforce Primary School Community Outdoor Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) Consultation

Westminster City Council's Sports, Leisure and Active Communities Team, in conjunction with Wilberforce Primary School, are seeking to develop proposals to construct a good-quality and inclusive facility for both school pupils and the wider community.

The goal is to offer more opportunities for physical activity, leisure, and sport close to where people live and encourage active choices in community settings that are easy to reach.

Working with Children services, the Sports, Leisure, and Active Communities (SL&AC) team are proposing to create a new AstroTurf all-weather Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) in the carpark of Wilberforce Primary School along Herries Street.

The facility will be a 4G carpet AstroTurf all-weather area with perimeter fencing and sports lighting. The MUGA would be located within the school carpark and runs East to West. To construct it, we will need to:

  • raise the existing ground level will require raising to create a flat surface
  • install a 5-meter-high fence enclosing and flood lights

During school hours, the MUGA will be for sole use by the school, outside of these hours, a Community Use Agreement will be in place to facilitate usage by the residents and community groups.
