You Said, We Did

Scheme Information

The scheme aims to bring significant pedestrian and community benefits to Connaught Village, with new green space, improved crossings and wider footways.

Summary of the improvements

The scheme aims to deliver the following improvements:

  • Create a new green space at the heart of Connaught Village with biodiverse planting, outdoor seating, and new paving in natural stone. This will be achieved by removing three parking bays at end of Kendal Street cul-de-sac.
  • Improved crossings with a raised table and shorter crossing distances to increase pedestrian comfort.
  • Update the north-south cycle link via Titchborne Row to encourage cycling.
  • Widen the footway at the southern side of Connaught Street (between the junction of Albion Street and Kendal Street) with a loading pad, two trees (subject to further investigations) and cycle stands.
  • Provide a place for residents to socialise with additional seating and have access to free drinking water.
  • Support local businesses by creating a more attractive place to visit, shop and enjoy.
  • New cycle parking stands.

Construction

The scheme was built in four phases, between October 2024 and May 2025.
