Admiralty Arch Public Realm

Arch AA UK Limited, the developer of Admiralty Arch, is proposing highway and public realm improvements associated with planning permission ref. 19/05545/FULL. The works are being delivered in consultation with Westminster City Council and include improvements to both the footway and carriageway surrounding the development.

Westminster City Council is inviting residents, businesses and other stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposals as part of this informal public consultation.

The proposals have been split into two areas:

1. S278 Works Extent on WCC Adopted Highway

(Highway maintainable at public expense)

Proposed works include:

• Improvements to footways and carriageways on the adopted public highway.
• Renewal of surfaces using Westminster City Council's standard materials and specifications.
• Proposed materials include Yorkstone paving, granite kerbs and setts, and black asphalt carriageway surfacing.
• Localised drainage improvements, including the installation of new highway gullies.
• Temporary traffic management and road closures may be required during construction, particularly during resurfacing activities.
• No significant permanent impacts to traffic movements or property access have been identified from the information reviewed to date.

2. Works Extent on Privately Maintained Highway

(Highway not maintainable at public expense)

Proposed works include:

• Public realm and highway surface improvements within areas that are not maintained by Westminster City Council at public expense.
• Upgraded paving and highway materials designed to complement the surrounding public realm.
• Improvements intended to enhance the quality, appearance and functionality of the area surrounding Admiralty Arch.
• Temporary construction activity may be required to facilitate the works.
