North Paddington Canalside
Queen's Park Canalside
The Queen’s Park Canalside launch event, held on 11th February 2026, was an exciting milestone that celebrated the official completion of the public space enhancements to the Canalside area in front of the Queen’s Park Library, bringing together partners, stakeholders and residents.
The public space enhancements include:
- An enhanced library forecourt
- A wider pedestrian crossing from the library to the Canalside park
- New accessibility ramps to create better connections between the public highway and the raised path that runs along the length of the park.
- An outdoor ‘reading room’ with new seating next to the water
- A clear and inviting entrance to the Canalside park
- An improved canal wall
- New biodiverse planting with nearly 70 different species
- A huge mural by artist Freddie Denton on the side of a building at one end of the space, co-designed with local school children.
- Wildlife habitat trail by Yes Make, with features co-designed and co-created with over 90 members of the local community.
The launch included a reception held at Queen’s Park Library where cabinet members, Cllr Barraclough and Cllr Albert spoke about how delighted they were to see the fantastic refurbishment complete. Followed by a guided tour led by LDA Design, who designed and delivered the public space improvements. To conclude, the Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr McAllister unveiled the newly transformed public space through a ribbon cutting ceremony.
We were thrilled to see such strong enthusiasm and support from everyone who attended. The turnout and response reaffirmed the importance of this investment, with funding support from the GLA’s Good Growth Fund, and the positive impact it is poised to make for the local community in the years to come. Residents’ involvement in co‑designing the space with the Council has also been vital in ensuring the improvements truly reflect local needs and help shape a neighbourhood that the community feels proud of.
Thank you to all who joined us and contributed to making the event a success.
