Meetings with City Commissioners
How to Request a Meeting with an Individual Commissioner
The procedure to request a meeting with any of our City Commissioners is to make such request through the City Manager’s Office. The City Manager’s Office will then extend the request to the commissioner(s) you request a meeting with. It is at the discretion of each individual commissioner what meetings they schedule.
City Manager’s Office Contact Information to Request Meetings with a City Commissioner:
• AJ Nicholson, Assistant to the City Manager
• Email: anicholson@mywinterhaven.com
• Phone: 863-291-5613
Meetings with Multiple Commissioners
The November 9 agenda item provides an opportunity for public comments with multiple commissioners together. Outside of a publicly noticed, open-to-the-full-public meeting, City Commissioners can not meet with citizens together (more than one at a time) to discuss anything they may take a future vote on. This is not a local rule or policy, this is Florida State Law, commonly known as the Sunshine Law. They can only meet individually outside of publicly noticed, open-to-the-full-public meetings. This includes electronic (text/email) communications where more than one commissioner is included.
Community Input Survey and Community Meeting
Community Input Survey
As you are aware, there is currently an online community survey open. The purpose of this community survey is to collect input from residents prior to beginning the development of any design options. The community survey will remain open through October 31, 2026. At that time it will close and all results will be publicly available, provided to the City Commission, and provided to the full design team to be incorporated into design development.
Community Meeting – Early Design Input Opportunity
The tentative date and location for the upcoming public meeting is Monday, December 7 at Beymer Church. These details are being finalized, and a notice will go up on the project page and be mailed to all residents who received this week’s update letter once those meeting details are confirmed with all parties. I share the early date and location with you so you can pencil it in to your calendar if you choose. Please sign up for notifications on the project page to ensure you receive confirmed details as soon as they are finalized.
At this meeting, we will share early design concepts that will be developed based on input from the community survey that is occurring right now. At the meeting we will gather community feedback and input on design concepts. Opportunities to provide feedback on these initial design concepts will also be available on the project page in case anyone cannot attend the meeting or think of things to share after the meeting. The input window will remain open for two weeks following the community meeting. The next phase will be to take all that input and incorporate it into a revised design.
We appreciate the community’s engagement in this process. Please continue to share your thoughts on the project via the community survey, November 9 City Commission meeting, and December 7 community meeting.
