A preliminary drawing included in the City's original grant application has been circulating in the community and has understandably raised questions.
That drawing is not an engineered design, an approved plan, or a representation of what will be constructed.
8th Street & Avenue L NW Complete Street Project
A preliminary drawing included in the City's original grant application has been circulating in the community with the assumption that it is the indenteded project design. This sketch and associated rumor and has understandably raised questions.
**That drawing is not an engineered design, an approved plan, or a representation of what will be constructed.

The drawing was prepared by City staff as part of the original grant application. The application required an illustration of potential improvements that could fit within the existing public right-of-way. Its purpose was to demonstrate possible uses of the full available space and support the funding request.
It was never intended to serve as the basis for the actual roadway design.
Because grant applications and supporting documents are included in public City Commission records, the illustration is available for public review. Its inclusion in those records does not mean the City has selected or approved the layout shown.
Kimley-Horn, the City's engineering consultant, will develop actual design options after surveying and evaluating existing conditions. Residents will have opportunities to review those options and provide feedback before the design is finalized.
