Avenue K Complete Street Improvements
The Avenue K NE project aims to enhance infrastructure and safety. The project will focus on pedestrian safety by constructing accessible pedestrian facilities and adding traffic calming measures. Intersection improvements will optimize traffic flow, while minor landscape enhancements will add aesthetic appeal. Drainage improvements and roadway enhancements will also be added. This project represents a significant investment in creating a safer and visually pleasing corridor for the community.
Project Budget
- The total cost of the project is $2,236,157. This project is funded in part through the Florida Department of Transportation at the cost of $1,301,000, and the remaining difference of $935,157 will be paid by the City's transportation fund. Construction will be confined as much as possible to the immediate right-of-way to minimize costs and expedite the work.

Public Information Meeting
The City of Winter Haven is pleased to announce the start of the much-anticipated Avenue K NE Roadway Improvement Project. In August 2023, you will begin to see contractors performing roadway improvements along Avenue K, NE. We invite you to join City staff, the project contractors, and your neighbors at The Winter Haven Garden Center located at 715 3rd Street NW, Winter Haven, FL 33881, for a public coordination meeting on August 1, 2023, anytime between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m. The project team will have maps, project details, coordination plans, and tentative schedules on hand and be prepared to answer any questions you may have.
