FDOT Roadway Improvements on U.S. 17

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin milling and resurfacing U.S. 17 from Transport Road in Bartow to Avenue G S.W. in Winter Haven starting Sunday night, January 11, 2026. The project is scheduled to be completed in late 2026.

The work is intended to improve roadway ride quality and safety. In addition to resurfacing, improvements include upgrading sidewalk curb ramps to meet ADA standards and installing rumble strips along the roadway edge lines through Eagle Lake.

To minimize impacts to daytime traffic, lane closures will be limited to overnight hours only, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Motorists traveling through the area at night should expect intermittent lane closures and are encouraged to use caution, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time.
