South Lake Howard Nature Park Expansion
The Lake Howard Nature Park Expansion project will include additional stormwater and wetland infrastructure. The additional infrastructure will further help the overall water quality of Lake Howard by treating stormwater from surrounding roadways and neighborhoods. The stormwater and wetland infrastructure will mirror the existing wetlands at the park. In addition to water quality, this is expected to create habitat for wildlife. The expansion will also include recreational amenities to include an expanded trail network, picnic areas, playground, parking, disc golf, kayak launch and fishing pier. Future amenities may include a nature education center. The project is currently under design. Construction is expected to start in later 2024 and last into 2026. The project is being funded through Heartland Headwaters & FRDAP Grants and City Funds.
