Septic to Sewer - Area 6A
Septic to Sewer is an initiative where a centralized sewer system is installed to help offset the use of septic tanks. Septic tanks can create high nutrient loads that negatively impact the environment through the leaching of phosphorus and nitrogen. With centralized sewer systems offsetting the use of septic tanks, we can increase environmental health, resiliency, and reliability.
By transitioning to a centralized sewer system, the City can improve environmental health while increasing system resiliency and long-term reliability.
Priority areas defined by:
- Proximity to lakes
- Age of septic systems
- Nutrient concentration of neighboring water bodies
- Length of potable water
- Asbestos Cement (AC) pipe in the area
