Construction Update November 2024

Work progresses on the Lake Elbert Drive Project, with completed utilities, roadway, and trail work, and upcoming plans for completion in early Summer 2025.

The project is scheduled to be completed in early Summer 2025.

The contractor has completed the following:
• Installation and all connections for water and sewer between Avenue A NE – Avenue G NE.
• Installation of the majority of the stormwater infrastructure between Avenue A NE – Avenue G NE
• Grading of the trail between Avenue A NE – Avenue G NE
• Installation of the water main through the duration of the project (please note that connections to this water main between Avenue G NE – eastward will be made later in 2025).

Over the next 6-8 weeks the contractor is anticipated to complete the following:
• Final grading of the trail and roadway between Ave A NE – Ave G NE including at least 1 lift of asphalt
• Installation of a new sewer force main between Avenue G NE – towards Drexel Avenue on the east side of the corridor
• Continued installation of stormwater between Avenue G NE – east towards Drexel Avenue
• Crews are working to relocate irrigation from the trail right of way to the adjacent private property as needed. Repairs are also being made on an ongoing basis to lakefront pumps/irrigation if damaged as part of the construction.

Winter/Spring 2025
• All stormwater upgrades through corridor
• All houses on new water connections with road crossings
• Roadway restoration
• Trail grading/paving
• Landscaping/trailhead construction
• Force main upgrades complete

Traffic Patterns:
• To ensure safety for residents and workers, Lake Elbert Drive will remain one way only from Drexel Avenue NE – Tenth Street NE (please attach graphic from social media post) with detours posted. This traffic pattern is anticipated to remain in effect until late Winter 2025/early Spring 2025.
• Additional traffic alterations will be made as portions of the corridor are ready to be opened to traffic or additional areas altered/switched for construction.
