As of August 30, the project is experiencing an approximate 2-week delay as weather conditions have created workforce issues on many projects.
As a result, the project timeline has been adapted, creating Phase 1.5! This phase will extend east of Cedar to Buckeye and is anticipated to begin in late October or early November, weather permitting. The intersection of Cedar and 14th Street will remain open, except the east side. It is anticipated this phase will be completed in the Spring of 2024, just in time for Phase 2 to begin.
Additional updates include:
- The east middle school entrance will close on September 5.
- Paving of Phase 1 is anticipated to begin the week of September 11.
- Waterline work on the south side of 14th Street, in front of the high school, is projected to begin soon. While this will not significantly impact traffic, we ask drivers to be aware there may be occasional traffic control issues on Cedar, just south of 14th Street.
Abilene Middle School drop/pick-up route
Please follow the large orange and white signs in the parking lots for directions. All student drop-off and pick-up in vehicles will occur in the east parking lot and students will enter in the east doors of the middle school (the doors facing AHS).
