Fort Williams Master Plan

Upgrades to the freshwater pond located at the mid-plateau section of Fort Williams Park, is included as recommendation #24 in the Fort Williams Park Master Plaln. Upgrades include:

  • Hire a pond consultant to evaluate and repair the pond’s environment, pumps and surrounding walls.
  • Add native plant material around the edges of the pond.
  • Consider a new pavilion type shelter that can serve as a warming hut for winter skating and an outdoor gathering space/classroom in the warmer months. Evaluate the options for the appropriate location of this pavilion.

In the Spring of 2022, a Request for Expression of Intent & Qualifications for Engineering & Design Services was posted. See RFP

  • RJ Grondin is expected to begin work on the Pond Reclamation Project in January. They will be excavating the dredge from the pond and putting in a new outlet control system to control the water level and drainage of the pond. They will enter through the old gate on Shore Road so parking spaces will be blocked off for safe access. RJ Grondin will have trucks and excavators. The work will take about three weeks depending on the weather.
