The Leret Partnership

The Leret Partnership would like to hear your views on proposals for new mixed-use development at the Swan Centre and Bull Hill.

The Leret Partnership, a joint venture between Kier Property and Mole Valley District Council, is seeking feedback on proposals to develop new high-quality homes alongside a range of new commercial facilities, local shops and green spaces, as part of the wider Transform Leatherhead programme.

This was due to launch on Thursday 23 May 2024, but was delayed due to the announcement of a general election.

The consultation, which is now running from Monday 08 July to Monday 16 September 2024, is an opportunity for local residents to find out more about the proposals and have their say. The project team wants to hear what the community thinks about these initial proposals, ahead of submitting an outline planning application to Mole Valley District Council.

Work has already begun to develop a masterplan for the two sites. The proposals aim to:

  • Develop high-quality new housing that is multi-generational and accessible to all.
  • Bring new multi-use buildings and places to Leatherhead, better serving the local community and reinforcing connections across the town through high quality design and redesigned public open space.
  • Enhance the retail offer and increase footfall to Leatherhead town centre, improving the public realm.

Leigh Thomas, Group managing director, Kier Property said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Leatherhead that will help revitalise the town centre, through the provision of new homes and commercial space which will generate new jobs whilst looking to improving connectivity through the town and access to green spaces. Through this consultation process, we’re keen to understand what people want to see from new developments and consider that as we refine and develop our proposals.

“We’d encourage people to get involved and provide their comments and opinions – your views matter.”

Cllr Keira Vyvyan-Robinson, Cabinet Member for Property and Projects, Mole Valley District Council, said:

“I am delighted that residents, businesses and visitors to Leatherhead will have the opportunity to have their say on the proposals for the Swan Centre and Bull Hill, bringing to life these two key Transform Leatherhead projects.

“As well as providing much needed new homes, we aim to create a lively and vibrant town centre for all to enjoy. I would encourage everyone with an interest in Leatherhead to take part in this consultation to help shape the future of our town.”

As part of the consultation, the Leret Partnership is holding both in-person events and an online webinar. People are invited to come along, to find out more about the proposals and ask the project team questions.

During our in-person events the Partnership will be supporting Leatherhead food bank, part of Good Company - a local charity that works to prevent and alleviate poverty. Donations of food will be accepted at the four in-person events across July.

Come along to one of our drop-in consultation events and meet the team

For anyone unable to attend the events, the project website theleretpartnership.co.uk has information about the project and consultation along with a range of options for submitting feedback.

The deadline for submission of comments to this consultation is 23:59 on Monday 16 September 2024. Any feedback submitted after this date may not be considered.
