Youth Engagement

As part of The Leret Partnership’s commitment to Leatherhead’s future, our team have been visiting schools and engaging with students across the district to understand what they want to see in Leatherhead, and we have more visits planned.

We are doing this through a programme developed by Kier (one of the JV partners) known as Kiericculum, which aims to bridge the gap between school and the next generation of construction leaders. You can learn more about Kiericculum here.

You can read about some of recent visits below.

Leatherhead Trinity School

The team visited Trinity School to engage with local children and teach them about health and safety on construction sites in fun and interactive ways including making spaghetti models.

The children also enjoyed trying on PPE which was aimed to show children about health, safety, and hygiene in the construction environment.  By wearing gloves, hats, goggles, and hi-vis vests the children were able to better understand the importance of protecting themselves and others.

The spaghetti and marshmallow activity encouraged creativity and problem-solving, helping them to build stable and tall structures using spaghetti as the main material.

Combining these activities provided a memorable hands-on learning experience, fostering both thinking and practical awareness of safety measures.

Listening, learning and teaching is a large part of Kier’s approach to the regeneration of Leatherhead’s Swan Centre and Bull Hill projects and visiting Trinity School was another way to engage young people in the proposals for their town.

Careers Fair at The Howard of Effingham School

A truly inspiring day at The Howard of Effingham school Careers Fair!
It was great to connect with students keen to explore their future paths.

We had engaging conversations, shared insights about Kier Property and careers with us and showcased the exciting opportunities ahead.

A big thank you to all the students and The Howard of Effingham for inviting us along!

A visit to The Howard of Effingham School

A fantastic day at The Howard of Effingham School near to Leatherhead getting, to know the students. The day was organised as part of the Swan Centre and Bull Hill regeneration project.

Kier team spent the day with KS4 students holding insightful “Kiericculum” sessions about “mock tenders” and exploring ways to build a shopping centre.  It was a great engagement day with a wide demographic of students to find out what they think about the proposed changes in Leatherhead.

Everyone had a fantastic time, and it was wonderful to see everyone so enthusiastically involved.
