Bonnie Brae

To accommodate mobility needs, Bonnie Brae Street is being expanded from a two-lane undivided rural roadway to a four-lane divided urban street section. This six-phase project has three phases completed (1,2 & 4A), Phases 3 and 6 are currently in construction. Below are the project limits and status for each phase.

PROJECT PHASES & STATUS

Project Limits: Bonnie Brae Street from Vintage Blvd on the south end to US77/Elm Street on the North end. Once Complete, Bonnie Brae will be a 6 mile, north-south, 4 lane divided, urban connector with quick access to Loop 288, US380, I-35E, FM1515, I-35W and US377.

Phase 1 (Roselawn to North of Vintage Boulevard) - COMPLETE

Phase 2 (I-35W TO US 377 Includes Vintage Blvd) - COMPLETE

Phase 3 (Roselawn to IH-35E) IN CONSTRUCTION

Sundt Construction was issued a Notice to Proceed on October 16, 2023. The project is expected to be complete in November 2026 (weather permitting).

New concrete lanes are open to north and south bound traffic, one-lane each, from I-35E Service Road and Roselawn Drive. The traffic signal at the intersection of Airport Road/FM 1515 and Bonnie Brae is expected to be activated by mid February.

Phase 4A (Roundabout at Scripture) - COMPLETE

In 2024, this section of roadway had a 2-inch overlay as part of the North South Water Phase 3, 42-inch Water Transmission Main project. Phase 4B of the Project will provide full depth repair to all 4 lanes and add a raised median matching Bonnie Brae Phases 3 and 6. Updated street lighting and sidewalk will also be installed in gap areas. City Streets Department continues to perform maintenance and pothole repair as needed.

Phase 5 (Roundabout at Scripture to US380)

Phase 5 of the Bonnie Brae Roadway Project will provide full depth repair to all 4 lanes and add a raised median matching the Bonnie Brae corridor and connecting the US380-University Drive Intersection. Sidewalk and updated street lighting will also be installed.

Tiseo continues work on the underground utilities and drainage facilities. They have also began the grading work for what will be the future lanes of the new 4-lane divided street. Sidewalk and street lighting will also be added.
